Il progetto

La genesi di "NOKTILUX" iniziò esattamente 30 anni fa, quando, armato della mitica Leica M4 a telemetro e di 2 obiettivi, il 50 mm f/1, denominato Noctilux e il 75 mm f/1.4 Summilux, iniziai a trascorrere notti intere sulle scogliere della Liguria, la mia regione natia, in attesa che la luce della luna piena illuminasse come volevo le rocce bagnate dal mare in tempesta.

La scelta di una meravigliosa pellicola invertibile, la Kodak EPY 50 per luce tungsteno, fece il resto. Questi miei studi sulle riprese in lunga esposizione dopo alcuni anni mi permisero di realizzare il mio primo libro fotografico da me intitolato "UNIVERSI IMMAGINATI" e, sempre con quelle immagini notturne e oniriche, una settantina di mostre in tutto il mondo e molte pubblicazioni sulle riviste specializzate del settore.

Dopo 30 anni, appunto, ho deciso di utilizzare la “nipote“ della LEICA M4, la Leica M TYP 240 digitale, e, sempre munito del mitico Noctilux f/1 ho realizzato nel mio studio di Milano una serie di scatti a 18 modelle, simulando in luce continua la luce lunare e poi divertendomi a “immergerle“ nei miei vecchi e storici paesaggi notturni con l’ausilio di una lunga postproduzione realizzata personalmente.

Una cavalcata fotografica lunga 30 anni e con 2 fedeli compagni, la Leica a telemetro e il Noctilux.

The project

"NOKTILUX" genesis started exactly 30 years ago, when I got my amazing Leica M4 and 2 lenses, the 50 f/1 called Noctilux and a 75 mm f/1,4 Summilux. I started spending whole nights on the Liguria’s cliffs, my native region, waiting for the full moonlight to enlighten, as I wanted, the rocks wetted by the stormy sea.

Moreover, thanks to the choice of a wonderful reversible film, the Kodak EPY 50 (for tungsten light) the result was better than ever. After a few years, my studies on long exposure shots allowed me to realize my first book entitled "IMAGINARY WORLDS" and thanks to those night and dreamy images I was able to realize seventy photos exhibitions all over the world as well as many publications on some of the most specialized photo magazines.

After 30 years I decided to use LEICA M TYP 240, heir of the LEICA M4, and together with the Noctilux f/1, I realized in my studio in Milan a series of shots of 18 models. I simulated the moon light with continue light equipment and I fused those shots with the ones I previously took, thanks to a long postproduction which I personally designed.

A photographic adventure which I lived for 30 years, with 2 faithful mates, the LEICA M and the Noctilux.
